ELKCAM CIRCLE PAVING ANNOUNCEMENT
THE CITY OF MARCO ISLAND-PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
Following construction that increased the width of a portion of East Elkcam Circle, the road will receive a complete asphalt overlay and re-striping to create a center turn lane. This project will intermittently affect traffic between North Collier Boulevard and Bald Eagle Drive for approximately six hours during the morning, on Saturday, February 11, 2006.

Vehicular traffic will be directed by the contractor or advised by signs to move around the work zone or use alternate routes during the construction work period.

Please follow the directions of the flagmen and/or use alternate routes for your convenience and safety. We plan to maintain two-way traffic during this period, but turns in and out of business lanes and driveways may not always be possible during this period. Periodic closure of driveways is necessary for paving and public safety.

We apologize for any inconvenience and will endeavor to complete the paving and striping as quickly as possible. New pavement and striping will help overall traffic flow through this area and provide safer left- turn movements and better access to and exits from the businesses.

Recommended alternate routes and detours during construction:

  • Access the Post Office and Fifth Third Bank during construction from the southbound direction (right turns in and out).
  • Access the shops in the Town Center, including Publix, by using the Collier or Bald Eagle entrances.
  • Access the Post Plaza (Hoots, print shop, dry cleaner)
by parking around the corner near Marco Office Supply or Su's Garden.
  • Access The Eagle or Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home from Tallwood Street entrance from Bald Eagle Drive.
  • Access Orion Bank, using their Bald Eagle entrance.
  • Access businesses in the Elkcam Circle Plaza, using the Tallwood entrance from Bald Eagle Drive.
  • Access St. Mark's Church, from either the Sixth Avenue or the Bluebird entrances.

For further information, contact The City of Marco Island, Public Works Department and ask for Jim Miller (239-389-5000).
