May Homes Sales Up Slightly But Still Sluggish

There is still hope according to David Lereah, economic analyst for the National Association of Realtors, Mr. Lereah states that Florida will continue to see growth due to foreign investors and retiring baby boomers. Based on what I've seen there are a lot of these home buyers out there waiting for the opportunity to buy. Hopefully, they won't wait too long. This market has a tendency to heat up quickly.

Marco Island Statistics for May
As of 6/19/2006

Condos were the hot topic in May. Closing and pending transactions increased significantly. Single family home closings decreased slightly. However, lots were noticably slower in May. Quite frankly, we should expect a slowdown in the summer months. The good news is that the inventory on all fronts continue to fall. We should see renewed buying activity as the summer winds down. If you are thinking about buying, now is the time. We are seeing more and more bargains out there.

31 Closed (34% increase over April)
42 went under contract (14% increase over April)

19 Closed (14% decrease over April)
25 went under contract (same as April)

National Media Reporting Blamed for Marco Business Woes

The fact of the matter is that Marco was minimumly affected by Hurricane Wilma considering the potential damage that could have been. The island was up and running the same day the storm hit and it was business as usual within a week. So, if you're considering a trip to Marco Island, book it! It's still the paradise that it has always been.
